Mind Control and Internet

      Eli Pariser shares great points in his talk. We are living in a generation of  Filter Bubble. Filter Bubbles is a problem when we search in the internet. It is a problem that the searching engine would automatically filter some important information based on our preference and searching records. I have experienced the Filter Bubbles in Google search. The results i searched were slightly different with the result of friends even though we entered same searching criteria. Google will personalize our searching results. I think the purpose of personalizing our searching result is to make a better customer's experience. It will be a big problem if we don't make a change or notice of it. We will not get some latest information which is important to us. It is like we are in some countries. Their government restricts the access of oversea website. 
    Article "Mind control and internet"  has mentioned the "echo chamber" which  means internet's disaster. It just like the Filter Bubbles mentioned above. The problem is about people always look at same information based on their opinion. 

Social Networking and Obama

  The article talks about the how internet helps Barrack Obama win the battle of presidential election. His team has created a website which is www.barrackobama.com . By using this website, people can easily get the information from Obama. It is a good way to attract the supporters and have interaction with them. It was a brand new concept. Fortunately, the websites has helped him win the battle.

   In the website, people can have access to media from Obama. The people can also donate money to him by electronic transaction. It also helps him raise a lot of funds from public. Obama became more public person because of this website.

   Besides, Obama also has his own Facebook account to draw public’s attention. It is another good strategy to promote him. Facebook can make him more accessible to other Facebook users. He can post his article or point of view on some issue. It is a powerful tool to influence other people.

   To sum up, internet is a very important thing in our daily life. Many company s like to promote their product online. Celebrities and politicians also has to promote themselves in internet.

Growing Up Online

       Things keep changing in our life especially our social networking. Our generation has totally different life from our passing generation. We highly relay on our internet nowadays. Social networking is an essential element in our life. We can’t live with internet. But our parents don’t know too much on internet and computer. They are afraid that the issues arising from internet will happen on their kids.      
       The video from “Growing up online” points out many issues of social networking. Teenagers always act different when they are on the internet. There are sides their parents don’t know. Many of them addicted to the social networking. In the story, the boy’s father needs to reach his son by email even though they are in home together. Social Networking arise the issue of communication. In classroom, the students can’t concentrate well in their lecture. The teachers need to use different methods to draw their attention. Teachers describe themselves as entertainers. Beside, students also have problems on reading the books. They think the books are boring. They are used to find the guideline or summary online. For example, sparknotes. Sometimes, I will do it too. Another problem arising on social networking is those parents don’t know what their children are doing online. Their children may be influenced by other people online and fall into the traps.
